Sellers Still Pouring it on: Takes Third on Lime Rock Road Course
Lakeville, CT: Peyton Sellers continues to bounce back this season, now posting a third-place finish in the Mohegan Sun NASCAR Camping World East Series 200 road race this weekend at Lime Rock Park. The finish puts him 11th in the overall standings, with just 33 points separating him from the four drivers ahead ofhim.

The series’ northeastern route has been plagued by rain issues this season, and Saturday’s race was no exception. Qualifying was rained out on Friday, and the field started in points order with Sellers in 12th position. The #44 Red Oil Line/SkillsUSA Chevrolet was 5th fastest in practice sessions earlier in the day, and the team knew they had a good car.
At the drop of the green flag, Sellers immediately began to pick his way through the field on the tight and technical road course. By lap 38, Sellers had worked his way into the top five, just in time for the red flag to fly and bring out a delay due to rain again. After only about an hour delay, the Andy Santerre Motorsports team was back to business.
By lap 68 of the 82 lap race, Sellers had skillfully and patiently moved into third position, and held off challengers until the checkered flag. In a race that saw 7 cautions for 36 laps, the former national champion’s experience showed, and he was able to stay out of trouble for the race.
“We had a really good car. It was solid in practice and stayed that way for the whole race. It was definitely a top three car today.” commented Sellers. Owner Santerre reiterated, “We talked before the race and knew the key would be to stay on the track and stay out of trouble. We had a third place car and Peyton did a great job getting it there.”

The #44 Chevrolet showed its support this weekend of its partnership with SkillsUSA, a national non-profit student organization which supports students entering the skilled trades. The SkillsUSA logo appeared on the hood Saturday in recognition of the leadership opportunities it provides to over 300,000 students across theUS. “It’s a tremendous organization, and we’re proud to be a part of SkillsUSA”, said Sellers.
After the race Peyton will head north to play in the 5th Annual Casella Jimmy Fund Golf Classic, sponsored by Casella Waste Systems who also sponsors the #44 team. The tournament benefits the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and will be played at the Woodlands Country Club in Falmouth, Maine.
The team now prepares for the race this weekend in Mansfield, Ohio, welcoming back Specialty Fertilizer Products as primary sponsor for the 150 lap race. The race will be broadcast live on HDNet and tape delayed on SPEED Channel’s Racing Across America segment. Check your local listings for full details
